Are you ready for the ride of a lifetime? Experience a race of pure joy on the west coast of Mauritius. Once again, Horizon Holidays is proud to be associated with the newly branded GRIT Colin Mayer Mountain Bike Tour, dedicated to the memory of the local legend rider, Colin Mayer.

The Colin Mayer Tour has it all: exciting diverse trails with a great race atmosphere, amazing scenery and a magical tropical cycling experience. The competition is gathering the biking community of Mauritius as well as renowned cyclists from across the globe sharing the same passion. The 180km tour will be run in the heart of Black River and will take place from the 13th to the 15th October 2017.

Expecting this year, for its second edition, over 250 riders such as Andrew Mclean and Oliver Munnik, the organising committee of the Colin Mayer Tour aims at making this event, one of the major sports event in Mauritius and of the west coast.

Promising you “a route unmatched in natural beauty”, the tour consists of several hunting grounds and amazing spots through the West coast, both water based and land based. Runners will get to go through the wonderful Tamarin Falls, the private plains and untouched single tracks of Les Salines Pilot, heading to Yemen towards Riverland to the ultimate finish line.

Whether you wish to compete in the race or support the riders, benefit from meals to serviced accommodation as well as entertainment and wine tasting. The Racing Sports Club in Tamarin will be for this occasion, converted into a sports village where you will find the starting and finishing point of all stages.

To support the association and specialised school “Reve et Espoir”, each cyclist riding for the Colin Mayer Tour will be contributing Rs. 200 which will be allocated for helping children and young adults with a handicap. The overall podium prize money stands at Rs. 120,000.

Renowned as “a model of perfection” and recognised as a highly respected athlete and a great bike rider, Colin Mayer tragically died in Moscow at the Junior World Champs in 2009.

Passionate about cycling and very influential, Colin became a Mauritian and Indian Ocean champion and is considered as an accomplished motivator. The race commemorates the cycling legend and aims at inspiring riders throughout Mauritius to push themselves beyond their limits and to be in the best shape of their lives.
